Suggested Activity: Come From Away Musical at The Ogunquit Playhouse
Come From Away transports you into the lives of 7,000 stranded passengers and the inhabitants of the unlikely Newfoundland town that welcomed them. Ogunquit Pride kicks off with a flag raising in Veteran’s Park, followed by a “Picnic in the Park” event featuring live entertainment and LGBTQ+ vendors. Other activities throughout the weekend salute the legacy of the LGBTQ+ community in Ogunquit, with a variety of events hosted by member businesses, including music, movies, live entertainment, and food. 1:00pm-4:30pm: Get a Glimpse Of The Bush Family Compound (Walkers Point) & Shopping In Kennebunkport
Ride with Kara to get a up close to the Bush Family Compound, it's an easy, 30-minute drive up to Blowing Cave Park on Ocean Avenue in Kennebunkport, where you can catch a glimpse of the estate and take some great photos. Let Kara bring you to the famous Wiggly Bridge & enjoy a walk through Steedman Woodsloop trail. (0.7 mile hike) The trail leads across a dam on the York River and leads across the Wiggly Bridge over to Steedman Woods. Great views of the York River, fishing boats in the harbor. Limit 9 guests. 1:30pm-3:30pm- Old York Historical Society
Ride with Kara up Old York’s where the story begins with the Old Gaol, which served as Maine’s first prison, the site of which was occupied continuously from 1656 until 1869. In 1899 a group of local preservation-minded citizens launched an effort to save this important landmark. On July 4, 1900, the Old Gaol opened to the public as a museum showcasing objects associated with York’s history. What began as a modest endeavor 125 years ago is now Old York Historical Society, serving thousands of people annually through tours, educational programs, exhibitions, and special events. The shuttle can seat up to 9 people.
Is the shuttle full? Here’s a helpful tip:
Drop off your family and beach gear at the Footbridge and come back to the resort to park. You can either take our shuttle to meet them, or walk. It's only 7 minutes (we timed it!).
