This report is updated every Saturday for the incoming week (occasionally a bit earlier).
PLEASE NOTE: Most activities have limited space and require advanced reservations. Sign-ups open at the conclusion of the Monday Orientation at approximately 10:30AM (first-come, first-served). If you cannot be there in person, you may call us at 603-745-9900 and ask for the Activities Department (X-470 from in-room), or you may sign up in the Main Lobby any time after that. All activities start at designated times, so please arrive early. Schedule is subject to change, may be weather dependent, and may be cancelled for lack of participation or tardiness. Children must be supervised.

MONDAY, JULY 7TH
9:00AM - RESORT ORIENTATION (free event): Meet the Activities Staff in the movie theater for approximately one hour of information regarding daily activities, resort amenities, and local offerings. Activities sign-ups open at the end of this meeting. Complimentary doughnuts.

12:30PM - MATINEE MOVIE - HITPIG! (free event): A bounty hunter pig finds himself trekking the globe with an elephant. Rated PG.
1:30PM - GUIDED WALK ON THE DISCOVERY TRAIL: Join us for a leisurely walk in the White Mountain National Forest on an easy and well-maintained 1.4-mile loop walk. This interpretive trail is educational, fun, conveniently located, and relaxing for people of all ages. It's a great way to stretch your legs and get some fresh air! $5 per person.
2:30PM - MATINEE MOVIE - WICKED (free event): The untold story of Elphaba and Glinda, the witches of Oz. Rated PG.
4:00PM - HOMEMADE CANDLES: Create & customize your own scented soy candle in a mason jar. Located in the Fun Factory. $10 per craft.

9:00AM - KAYAK AT MOORE RESERVOIR: Experience the White Mountains from a different perspective and get out on the water for 2-hours of relaxing paddling on picturesque Moore Reservoir. North Country Kayak will set you up with all the proper equipment and then you can head out on your own to enjoy stunning views, observe resident bald eagles, find a private cove, and go for a swim on a secret beach. Previous kayak experience is not necessary. Return to resort by approx. 1:00pm. Discounted price of $35 per person. Reach out to the Concierge if you have questions.

However, when a baby ochi is left behind by its pack, she embarks on the adventure of a lifetime to reunite it with its family. Rated PG.
8:00PM - MOOSE/WILDLIFE BUS TOUR: Join us for an interpretive tour around the region in search of New Hampshire's famous wildlife! This time of year, black bear and moose are very active. However, be forewarned that we may not see anything at all. That being said, your wildlife guide will speak extensively about the different animals and history of wildlife in New Hampshire. Tour lasts approx. 3-hours. Limited space. $15 per person. -

9:00AM - WATERFALL BUS TOUR OF THE KANCAMAGUS: We'll head over the Kancamagus Highway for a couple of short/easy walks to Sabbaday Falls (0.6 miles round-trip), and also Rocky Gorge (0.1 miles round-trip). We'll also stop at other scenic vistas for pictures along the way. Approx. 3-hour tour. Limited space. $10 per person.
1:00PM - MATINEE MOVIE - MUFASA: THE LION KING (free event): The story of Simba's noble father. Rated PG.
1:30PM - GUIDED HIKE TO "THE BEST VIEW IN NH": Join us for one of the most unique & exclusive walks in the region. This favorite, secret spot in Sugar Hill is off-the-radar and traditionally inaccessible to the public. The area is steeped in rich history, but the real pay-off is sweeping vistas of the Presidential range. We think it resembles the scenery from the movie The Sound of Music. This is approx. a 1-mile walk with some minor ups-and-downs. Minimum of 4 participants required. Return at approx. 4:00PM. $10 per person.

3:30PM - MATINEE MOVIE - THE GORGE (free event): Levi and Drasa are elite snipers tasked with a curious and secret mission. The pair are stationed on either side of an enormous gorge and their job is to protect it. However, neither knows the significant secret that lies between them. Rated PG-13.

Along the way, your guide will provide information about the Old Man of the Mountain, ski history, NH wildlife, and the iconic Hollywood actress Bette Davis (who was a local resident during the height of her fame). We'll also stop at Harman's Cheese Shop for a little shopping. Very little walking is necessary, but we'll be on and off of the bus. Limited space. Approx. 3-hour tour. $15 per person.

2:00PM - GUIDED HIKE TO THE BASIN & KINSMAN FALLS: Explore one of the most scenic trails in the region with us. You will be greeted by a seemingly endless series of waterfalls, cathedrals of natural ice formations, and some of the most picturesque scenery imaginable. This 1-mile hike (round-trip) is labeled as moderate; however, you will encounter continuous uphill walking with some steeper pitches in places). Appropriate outerwear and footwear recommended. $5 per person.

4:00PM - MATINEE MOVIE - THE PENGUIN LESSONS (free event): Tom Michell is a British teacher who moves to Argentina in the turbulent 1970s when the country is on the verge of a coup. When he rescues an orphaned penguin on the beach his whole life is transformed. Rated PG-13.
6:00-7:00PM - PLANETARIUM FOR KIDS (free event): This inflatable planetarium will be set up in the Main Lobby. People have been creating stories and making shapes of star patterns for millennia. It's such fun to see those shapes in the sky, and maybe even making up some of our own! Kids of all ages are invited - including parents!
7:30PM - ASTRONOMY PRESENTATION WITH DOUGLAS ARION: ASTRONOMY AND THE ENVIRONMENT (free event): Astronomers and people who generally enjoy and view the night sky are the 'canaries in the coalmine' for a number of important environmental issues with which the general public may not be familiar. These include the launching of satellite megaconstellations for internet and other purposes, the impact of exploration and mining on other bodies in the solar system, and light pollution, among others. All of these are issues which people should know about, and which we each need to personally address if we are to solve them. Solving them will make us safer and healthier, and save money while protecting the environment around us. Douglas Arion is the Executive Director of Mountains of Stars, and Professor Emeritus of Physics and Astronomy at Carthage College. Located in the movie theater. Free event, but a small donation at the door to support local science organizations is a nice gesture.

10:00AM - UFO BUS TOUR: One of the most infamous UFO abduction stories in history happened around the corner from Pollard Brook Resort. In 1961, Betty & Barney Hill claim to have been abducted by aliens and can't explain a large chunk of "lost time". We will head out in the bus to re-trace their route on that fateful night. We'll make a few stops including a scenic view in Franconia Notch where they initially claim to make first contact, the official state historic marker that commemorates the spot they claim to have been abducted, a local mural of the alien, and we'll also be able to shop for some commemorative merchandise from this incident. Approx. 1.5-hour tour. $5 per person.

7:00PM - MOVIE NIGHT - FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH (free event): Two siblings come together to unravel one of the most enduring mysteries of mythology. The pair travels multiple continents into ancient cultures and beyond in order to solve the riddle explorers have puzzled over for centuries. Rated PG-13. -

7:00PM - ASTRONOMY PRESENTATION WITH DOUGLAS ARION: HOW WE KNOW WHAT WE KNOW (free event): It's legitimate to ask how we can possibly know how far away things are , how big, how hot, how heavy, how old....when we can't possibly visit or directly measure these things far, far away in space. But, amazingly, we actually do know! This presentation will explain how we figure out all the cool things we know about the Universe. And, yes, there are things we don't know - yet - and we'll cover some of those, too! 9:00AM - WATERFALL BUS TOUR OF THE KANCAMAGUS: We'll head over the Kancamagus Highway for a couple of short/easy walks to Sabbaday Falls (0.6 miles round-trip), and also Rocky Gorge (0.1 miles round-trip). We'll also stop at other scenic vistas for pictures along the way. Approx. 3-hour tour. Limited space. $10 per person.
1:00PM - MATINEE MOVIE - DOG MAN (free event): A dog and a human are fused into Dog Man, a police protector of the people. Rated PG.

7:00PM - MOVIE NIGHT - FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH (free event): Two siblings come together to unravel one of the most enduring mysteries of mythology. The pair travels multiple continents into ancient cultures and beyond in order to solve the riddle explorers have puzzled over for centuries. Rated PG-13. -
